Welcome to CAN!

Nathan and his father walked into a new church one Sunday and were greeted by a co-worker of Nathan, a man who also has developmental disabilities.  How does your congregation use the gifts of persons with disabilities?

We CAN! Disabilities and Mission

"Go and tell...what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them." (Matthew 11:4-5)

The core mission of most religious traditions is captured in these words of Jesus.  The concerns of people with disabilities are at the heart of that mission.  Sadly, though, people with disabilities are often at the margins of many religious congregations or not included at all.

The mission is not as much about curing people, but about a healing dynamic which restores all people to a saving faith community. The Congregational Accessibility Network (CAN) provides a set of tools to help do that.  Enter our site to find out more!
